Planting is the heart of farming - if you don’t sow today, You cannot harvest tomorrow. I truly believe that every farmer’s success begins with a single seed.

Hellow to all farmers and gardeners here on hive especially here @hivegarden. It's been a while since I posted here and I'm ack to share another farming journey of my family.

Since we’re a big family of farmers, I also want to share what my sister-in-law has been doing on their farm. Yes, my sisters-in-law is also a farmer, and i want to share their planting carrots way together with her husband and our aunt.

First thing they di was her husband plowed the land using a tractor, and the next day, they started planting. That’s usually how we do, especially if there are only a few of us planting and now that it’s been raining often every afternoon mostly at 1pm. Luckily, the weather was nice this morning, so they were able to plant without any problem.

Before planting, they form garden beds about 12 inches wide, with the length depending on the space. They make sure the beds are even and flat so it’s easier to mark the rows where the carrot seeds will be planted. The tool they use for lining is improvised, it is made from wood, just like what I see in the photo. After marking the bed they now plant the seeds, Planting carrots seeds is not easy because they are to small so they need to plant it manually. They carefully plant the tiny carrot seeds by hand, little by little.

That’s our usual process for planting carrots here. It may sound simple, but it actually takes a lot of process and work especially the carrots seeds are to small so sometimes we put a lot of seeds in 1 lane. So we need to control and carefully distribute the small seeds on the lane otherwise the seeds will be insufficient. The carrot seeds come in small cans, like the ones in the picture, and this time they managed to plant about nine cans in their farm.

Once the seeds are laid out, they gently sweep over them using a soft broom or what we call "walis tambo"(a local broom made from grass ) to avoid covering the seeds with too much soil. This helps the seeds sprout faster, because when they’re buried too deep, they tend to die or it takes time before it sprout.

So that’s how we plant carrots! If you have other methods or tips for growing carrots, please feel free to share them in the comments section. I’d love to learn from your experience and maybe find ways to make our planting process easier and better. I’m always open to suggestions and corrections.

Thank you so much for taking time to read my farming blog. I really appreciate your time and support.

Nakakatuwa talaga makita kung gaano ka organize at linis ng kanilang garden. Here in our place. We already planted last month. We just plow the land and plant right away, haha! That’s why when it’s time to harvest the field is already full of weeds. 😁

Thank you so much @rabino7515. We will surely continue it because this is our source of livelihood hehe 😅
I've always wanted to grow some baby carrots in our garden, but always no luck.. maybe because we buried the seeds too deep..
This is actually helpful.. thanks a lot for sharing.. 😊
Ohhh nice try, but what I know and what I discover is that carrots cannot grow in a hot temperature environment. Some can grow but didn't grow big roots just like our carrots here.
I don't grow that many carrots, but I liked your method with the beds. I'll have to try it in the spring.
Oh nice one, I'm happy to know that you got some idea on our ways on how to plant carrots 🥰
I haven't tried it that way.
