Yay for finally getting the shed up! Your father in law sounds a bit like mine, he helped us with quite a few projects around the house and J has said he probably needs a "project house" like ours rather than the nice lock and leave nothing to do unit they have (which I think they got because they thought they were going to be doing a lot more travelling) XD
Gardens seem to be one of those projects that doesn't have an end.

Gardens... yep, definitely no end... and it does seem like our garden and house is a bit of a project house... although, we do feel a bit bad, as there are also other siblings in the same area! But they are a little less useless than us...
LoL! Do you know for sure that the parents are only coming to help you and they're not jauntily dancing between siblings throughout the week lending a hand here and there? :D
