My Parent's Garden

I believe I’ve mentioned before how much my parents love nature. As a result, we, their children, were also taught how to care for and manage plants. For some people, gardening might not seem all that appealing. Admittedly, maintaining a variety of plants at home isn’t easy, especially with the unpredictable weather we’ve been having lately. But for us, plants are what make our home beautiful and inviting. So today, allow me to show off a few of them here on my blog (though not all, of course).

Honestly, my parents are really passionate about this hobby. They’re easily drawn to any plant they come across, and sometimes they can’t resist bringing one home. It has become a special bond between them. And clearly, their love for plants reflects the love they have for each other—always supporting one another in what they enjoy.

We have a wide variety of cacti at home. Some are shaped like columns, others are round, and some come in all sorts of unique forms. My parents especially love collecting plants—especially when they find one that’s new to them. And of course, we enjoy it too. Watering all of them takes almost a whole day, from one side of our lot to the other, because there are just so many!😅

We also have a bridal flower plant, and honestly, it smells amazing especially when it starts to bloom. And let’s not forget about our pineapple plants. They take months to bear fruit, but that’s okay—we’re patient. The best part is, we’ve already harvested some, and they taste even sweeter than the ones you find in stores! And when it comes to flowers, we have plenty of those at home too—of different kinds, colors, and shapes. Among them are emerald roses, vibrant red roses, delicate orchids, and many more that bloom beautifully throughout the year. They’re so beautiful, it’s impossible to ignore them. And even when the weather gets extremely hot, the presence of all these plants and flowers makes our home feel cooler and more peaceful. The air feels fresher, and it’s always a joy to walk around and appreciate what we’ve grown.

Aside from flowers, we also have fruit-bearing trees. One of them is our soursop tree—also known as guyabano or sabana fruit. This one holds a special place in our home because it’s my father’s favorite. He loves its tasty flavor, and we all enjoy it when the fruits are ready to harvest. Beyond its delicious taste, soursop is also known for its health benefits, which makes it even more valuable to us. It’s always fulfilling to enjoy fruits grown with our own hands, knowing they’re fresh, organic, and shared with love.

And I guess, that's it for today's blog. To be honest, there are still so many more plants in our home—far too many to list in just one blog post. They bring life, beauty, and peace to our surroundings, and caring for them has truly become a part of who we are as a family. It’s more than just a hobby—it’s a shared love, a bonding moment, and a reflection of how we appreciate the simple yet beautiful things in life.
