A Place To Sit - That's Hilarious

This week in the Hive Garden one of the prompts was about sharing a place to sit in our gardens. I've loved reading about the sense of peace and contemplation people enjoy in their green spaces.

Having a 'nice place to sit' for us is a bit of a joke. You see, we have created lots of nice places to sit in the garden. Depending on the weather, the wind direction, whether it's raining or sunny, we have a choice. Now it's late Autumn the front of the house is a sun trap as it faces north, and is sheltered by the eaves, so I catch winter sun there.

Under the gazebo, it's more sheltered, and in winter when it's raining we sometimes light the chiminea, or if it's hot, we lay in the hammock.

The thing is, we are very work orientated when it comes to our home. There's always something to do - plant, weed, fence, prune, mulch. Even this week I'm moving barrow loads of mulch to cover the exposed dirt which doesn't look as nice. You need to do it every few years. Native mulch lasts a while and smells great, so I'm obsessed with doing it.

This spot tucked up against the olives is our new favourite autumn to spring spot - I'm trying to make it prettier with different plantings, particularly warm orange flowers like the bidens and the calendula that last through the winter.

There's also two apples, a plum, a quince and a mulberry here, and this year I decided to plant a Nashi which should give a little more shade in the afternoon. Being at home means I actually I time to sit and contemplate what next. This week it's three to six barrows of mulch a day, because that's all I can manage, digging out the rhubarb bar two, as I have too many, and keeping the mint under control.

I also need to go to the neighbours to get some horse manure to add to the compost, plant some green manure in one of the veggies beds, weed the raspberry patch and put some straw mulch on it, and there's a big pile of branches to burn off.

What the hell am I doing sitting down??😂😂

With Love,

Seems like a paradise.

People often tell me, just go out and sit and enjoy it. The other day when I was resting with my helper, I was reaching down and pulling the mess from the perennial sweet peas, as it needs done NOW. Sigh.. So I don't go out unless I can do something, because if I shouldn't be doing something, and go out, I will be doing something and crash and burn. Sigh... And there's always so much to do this time of year!

I totally get it. We have been practicing sitting and not doing stuff though... Sometimes it lasts a whole 15 minutes 😂😂😂

Greetings!, it is a pleasure to read you and in fact I have read several posts of the initiative, many people around here have a refuge in their own garden. I don't have the pleasure of having a garden right now, but I am falling more and more in love with plants, I hope life will give me my own place soon, surely I will also have my own space to sit and connect with nature from the garden 🙏
