I have the spices in large rectangular pots, a little deep so that they root well and in a sheltered area of the terrace. Chili is more complicated although time helps a lot, I tend to water it a lot. @macchiata

I first germinate the seeds by wrapping them in cotton with water until they sprout.
oooh noted! That sounds pretty doable. I have to agree chili can be a little more complicated, I forgot watering them a few times and the leaves droop so low 😅
