The garden is a source of life

(edited)

Interesting question!
I think everyone has their own reason for gardening.
But I think we all have some basic reasons that connect us all.
Now after many years my main reason for gardening is to produce healthy and fresh food.
I don't want to put forward any conspiracy theories, but I simply don't believe in our state institutions that they always do the best job
Suffice it to say that we have been on the road to the European Union for twenty-five years, and that our regulations are not respected at all and are worse than in the EU.
Many fruits that the EU bans from importing due to pesticides and bad chemicals end up on our market.
I think some people from the EU are also not happy with their regulations and rules. But what is there. While this fight with regulations and the state continues, I have decided to produce my own food As much as I can.
Of course I couldn't do it without the help of my wife.
And an additional motivation for producing food was when my son was born.
No one is happier than me when my son goes to the garden and picks a strawberry or cucumber and can eat it without any problems or worries.

Actually my first reason besides producing healthy food, was.
How healthy is gardening.
How useful is it for us, how much does it help us.
What do I mean?
Twelve years ago I had a major heart operation.
I was twenty-eight years old then.
While I was in school and for a while while I was working I lived between the village and the city.
I never left the village completely But I saw gardening as another job that needed to be done.
Although I knew even then that food was healthier, that we could grow medicinal plants.
But I had no idea that a garden could have such a positive impact on recovery.
I had surgery in November and in February I planted plants in a seedling class, I was in the garden in March and April.
Of course there was no forcing, just light to moderate work.
Contact with nature, plants, being in the air.
That It reborn me, it totally changed my outlook. In May, I was completely dedicated to gardening and full of strength and energy.
After that I am inseparable from the garden.
Even in the winter when there is nothing outside I always have a pot with a plant in it.
So anyone who lives in an apartment in the city and doesn't have space for a garden can always have a pot of some vegetable, medicinal herb or flower.

These are just some of the advantages and benefits of gardening.

The list is long:
Gardening connects you with nature.
Production of medicinal herbs.
Gardening (ecotherapy) is good for mental health and well-being.
Gardening creates communities, friendships and new connections.
Gardening can improve your sensory awareness.
Gardening can help you sleep better.
Gardening is good exercise, burns calories, builds strength and reduces osteoporosis.
Gardening can help you learn new skills.
Gardening exposes you to beneficial bacteria.
Gardening can save you money.
Gardening can help you eat healthier
Gardening provides a place to relax...

I also think that our modern lifestyle has taken us too far away from nature.
And we are part of nature.
So whenever you can, be in touch with nature.

After all these years,
Producing healthy food, spending time in nature, and even saving money,it put gardening on my list of work, hobby and pleasure.
What I also realized, even though there is sometimes a lot of work to do in the garden, is
Never force the work. Make sure you dose it and your body will thank you.

Until next time, stay healthy.

#Indirectly: So, what you're saying is that gardening is a teacher, a doctor, and a caregiver.

Yes, it can be said that way

What a powerful and heartfelt reflection β€” thank you for sharing such a deeply personal journey where your philosophy is deeply rooted. I can relate how the garden helped in healing. I also went through the same situation a few years ago. πŸ’ž

It's fascinating how your story weaves together health, family, self-reliance, and love for nature into one beautifully rooted philosophy. The way gardening helped you recover after heart surgery is incredibly inspiring; it shows how the garden doesn’t just grow food, it restores life in every sense of the word.

I could really feel your joy when you spoke about your son picking strawberries without worry β€” that captures the essence of why growing our own food matters so much. It's also a reminder that the garden isn’t just soil and seeds; it’s connection, healing, and quiet rebellion against a disconnected world, and I can attest to this too, with a similar experience. πŸƒπŸ’š

Loved this. Amazing how you recovered quickly with the garden and I love how you are raising your son to have appreciation too. Feeling the passionate gardener vibes! If everyone had a garden, the world would be a better place.

Thanks, I agree with you.
We should all have a garden, even a small piece of land.
The world would be a better place.
