Raspberry, blackberry,goji berries, aronia...pepperoni :)

Gardening continues, in fact this is a fight with grass.
To reduce the effect of drought I left grass around some plants.
To reduce the effect of evaporation and to protect the leaves of the plants from burns.
In one of the previous posts I said that I have a jungle of greenery, but there is a wild flower to refute me.

I will definitely have to install a drip irrigation system for this part of the garden.
The raspberries survived but not all of them, and they have a lot of burnt leaves.
I am thinking about shade netting for next year.
The currants survived without any major problems. The leaves are still green and look good.
And what surprised me positively are the strawberries.
They survived in that mess of grass that I left next to the raspberries and currants.
And besides that, there were strawberries and now there are some, but they suffered a lot, first from frost and then from drought. But I think there will be enough for next year.

As for the blackberries, one just dried up.
All the others survived and have new young shoots.
And now, while I was taking pictures, I see that one of the arches with the blackberry on it has cracked. It will have to be replaced.

It's been a few years since I planted three chokeberry (aronia) trees.
One dried up, one is now bearing fruit.
and one is having second thoughts, actually struggling to get going, then the drought hits it, and so on for the second year.

I planted goji berries (Lycium barbarum) last year.
And both bushes are blooming, and have small fruits.

Thanks to @schlees
I was able to detect a parasitic plant that had attacked my basil and hot peppers.
It was mostly on the basil but started to move to the peppers.
I removed it from these plants and it is Cuscuta pentagona, and our folk name for it is fairy hair.
And now I can enjoy ripe hot pepperoni peppers.
Old Post about Cascuta pentagona is HERE

Your garden sounds full of life and challenges love how you’re finding ways to keep everything thriving despite the drought.

Looks like you are making the best of it despite the drought. We had a drought here until recently. Ithas been raining the last three days. I think it is supposed to stop after this morning. Hoping maybe next year I feel good enough to plant a small patio garden with a couple veggies.

I try
Many attempts, then the best way is found.
And you have my support for the garden if you decide to.

We've had small potted gardens on our patio before with a couple of plants. This year though I just wasn't feeling it. Neither was the wife. Imissed it though.

Gardening really teaches us patience. I hope your plan for dip irrigation and shade netting makes next years harvest even better.

Plans are one thing, we'll see what's feasible. We hope for the best.

Great looking place - strongly reccomend making the most out of it to gain a certain level of indipendence when it comes to food - but seems like you are on a good direction onto this road. :)

Would not install any watering system at this point - leaving the grass on the ground like you already do, will most likely gather enough dew to keep everything watered to the minimum, slightly bigger but fluffy grass piles will also hold water for some time. Let them build strong and deep roots - sometimes torturing them a little comes with a lot of benefit in the end (not the ones actually flowering or close to harvesting for sure).

You're welcome, did you give "Picture This" a try so far (just klick the premium advertisement stuff away - it is 100% free)?

Have a great time and see you around. :)

Thank you
I was planning to install an irrigation system for the next dry season, but now it's autumn and there's no need for that.
