How many months does it usually take before ginger can be harvested? We have ginger that’s been growing for quite some time, but it still isn’t ready. How can we tell when it’s the right time to harvest?

I almost always harvest after 8 months, but I always wait for the plant itself to prove it to me. The leaves become faded, and eventually dry. On many occasions I have waited until flowering and for the flowers to wither.
You dig up the soil a little, and the tubers are there, very close to the surface; That's the time to find the spicy bunches of Ginger and the well-flavored Turmeric.
