My Uncle Chose Gardening After Retiring as a School Teacher

After years of hard work as a teacher, my uncle finally enjoyed his retirement. His wife was confused about how to spend his time well. However, my uncle, who was indeed good at farming, had no other choice but to garden in his yard.

In my opinion, who is majoring in Biology and taking a Photography class this year, choosing to fill his retirement by gardening in his yard is an activity that not only provides an opportunity to enjoy nature, but also allows us to plant and harvest our own crops.

Gardening in the yard also provides an opportunity to do light physical activities, such as digging, watering, and cutting plants routinely which is usually done in the morning and evening as my mother often does at home.

Gardening activities mean being close to nature and this activity helps maintain health and fitness, as well as providing an opportunity to enjoy fresh air and sunshine. In addition, from a psychological perspective, gardening can also help reduce stress and anxiety, because this activity can make someone feel more relaxed and peaceful.

Actually, my uncle retired a long time ago and started gardening in his yard. My uncle really enjoys the process of planting and harvesting his own garden produce. Seeing the plants he planted grow and develop into delicious and healthy fruits is very satisfying.

Some of the plants my uncle planted are mango trees that have started to produce flowers which are the beginning of fruit, guavas that have fruited and ripened, several flowers in pots, grapes and lemons.

I can also enjoy the results of my uncle's hard work, for example I often pick guavas and share them with friends. This also provides an opportunity to save pocket money.

Gardening in the yard also provides an opportunity to develop creativity and hobbies. When I was still living with my mother, I often tried to plant various types of plants, from vegetables to flowers, and created unique and beautiful garden designs. This also allowed me to learn about various types of plants and gardening techniques, so that I could improve my skills and knowledge.

In retirement, my uncle felt that gardening in the yard was the right choice. This activity provides an opportunity to enjoy nature, do physical activity, and develop creativity. In fact, when I visit her house like today, I can enjoy my free time more happily and contentedly, and have the opportunity to create beautiful and useful memories for myself.
