Updating my garden in August

(edited)

Greetings dear friends of Hive Garden, I'm stopping by this wonderful community to update you on the progress of my garden. August is almost over, and there has been some progress since the last time I shared my garden in July. It says part 1 because the idea was to update 15 days later, but work has kept me busy and I haven't been able to post. I did follow up on the progress and took pictures. Today I'll tell you how my little garden is coming along.

My goal is really to have an ornamental garden with beautiful flowers of various colors. However, this little garden has everything, medicinal plants such as aloe vera, tua tua, citrona, malojillo, and mala madre. The flowers I have managed to grow are simple, for now, so I owe myself a good visit to the nursery to grow other species. I like exotic plants in the garden. The Rosa Mística or Coqueta plants have bloomed, and they come in all colors: red, fuchsia, orange, and, to my surprise, yellow, which I wasn't expecting.

That desolate vase is now a thing of the past. I devoted myself to growing many flowers of the Vinca Rosea species in it, which is what the vase is now called, “the Vinca Rosea vase.” I started with the common white and fuchsia ones, then I planted some white ones with pink centers and one that was wine red. I still need to plant some red ones with a center that combines white and yellow. For now, I have them in water along with some sticks from the Trinitaria plant, which I still hope will take root.

The Cosmos plants, also called Mirasol, bloomed, and the color was a surprise, dressing part of my garden in orange with very pretty flowers. Of the three, only the smallest one has yet to bloom, but for now I am happy to see more buds that will continue to open every day like the wings of a bird.

Before continuing with the improvements to my garden, one of the things I wanted to do was build a path with a stone wall filled with gravel, which are very small decorative stones that are also very attractive. The stones come in a variety of colors and are sold by the bag at hardware stores for $7 each. I brought them back from one of my work trips; all I had to do was wash them and build the wall. I did buy the gravel, which comes in sizes 1, 2, and 3, with size 3 being the recommended size for walkways.

I was really surprised by how nice it turned out. I made this path so I could grow Lochita grass instead of regular grass, which requires more maintenance. The path is so we don't step on the grass, and I plan to extend it a little further.

With the footpath, the view is much prettier. The crotalaria plant had dried up, but thanks to the pollination process, others were born and their distinctive yellow flowers are already beginning to appear.

The gift

The most exotic thing I have in my garden is a baby Desert Rose plant, which was given to me during my working day. It was a job I did in a large house with a beautiful garden. I couldn't help but admire the Desert Roses growing there; there were several of them, and the owner of the house surprised me with this beautiful gift. She gave me some advice, although I had already researched this species.

It requires at least 4 or 5 hours of sunlight per day. As it has the ability to store water, it should be watered every 3 days or when the soil is dry since the last watering. Yellow leaves should be removed, as well as any white spots that appear on healthy leaves, if applicable, although this has not happened on my plant. The color of its roses will be a real surprise. See you in the next update.
