So, after finishing my work around 5 PM, I went downstairs to have some coffee. Then I went to find the chicory plant and dig a hole, maybe 10 centimeters deep, where I would plant it. Of course, I hadn't planned where I wanted it, but it was in front of the house, where there's a lot of weeds. I had to remove some of them (not all, since there were a lot of ants) while I was digging the hole. Then I put the plant in and started covering it with the same soil I had removed earlier. This is the result. Now it will depend on my aunt to take care of it, because I warned her that it might not be the right place for it, but she insisted that it was. So now its growth is in her hands.

Later, I went to water the plants in my grandmother's backyard (right there, but at the back of the house). When I was near the tomato plants 🍅, I noticed that one on the plant was already starting to ripen, showing its characteristic red color. I told my cousin to pick it, since she had seen the previous one ripe early that morning and let me know so I could go down and take pictures to share with you all here in the #hivegarden community. When we got back in the afternoon, we noticed that a guacharaca (a large bird very characteristic of this area) had eaten almost all of it. So, to avoid a similar incident, I decided to harvest it that way and let it finish ripening at home while I wait to make a salad with onions to go with my fried fish tomorrow, Wednesday, or at the latest, Thursday.

That's why I love being able to plant and harvest my own food at home because it's fresh at the same time, without any chemical additives; everything is 100% natural, as it should be.
