Getting back to the topic of my post, I have a question for those who might know: my mother has some beautiful plants, and I’m not sure if they are cacti or succulents. I asked her, but she didn’t know—someone just gave them to her as a gift. She has taken such good care of them that they’ve spread to various spots around the house; they are quite easy to propagate, and they grow well regardless of the space available.

My question is: are these a type of cactus or a succulent? Also, if anyone here is an expert, could you tell me their name? I’d love to know exactly what we have. I personally really like them, and I’m wondering if it’s best to keep them where my mother has them, or perhaps move them indoors. They make excellent home decorations, and who knows—maybe this could even turn into a small business! I imagine there’s a good market for these, just as there is for many other types of plants. At the very least, I’d like to learn more about the different varieties so I can ensure they have the best possible environment to thrive.

Thank you in advance to everyone who takes the time to share their insights in the comments—I truly appreciate your help in clearing up my confusion about these plants! And, of course, thank you to those who support me with your upvotes.

Cute type of cactus. Attractive! 🌱
To answer your question: It is a cactus - looks like Opuntia Tuna.
Also, all cacti are belong to succulents. But not all succulents are cacti :)
The answer to that is both 😁 All cacti are succulents but not all succulents are cacti
It is a cactus from the Opuntia genus and it needs to be grown in full sun. Your photos at the end of your post shop plants that are light-starved, that's why the new growth is so thin
