<< FOR A GREENER WORLD >>
Take care of water. Returning to our roots as a solution. Nurturing the smallest seedling growing beneath our feet.
[ A story from a small backyard in the southern world ]
| Inspired by this week's question on Hive Garden, I'm sharing a short presentation with you all. Have a beautiful, sunny weekend | |

โ๏ธ A little bit of my days ๐๐ฟ Hello, my name is Juan and I live in Cรณrdoba, Argentina. My growing climate is temperate subtropical humid with dry winter.๐ฟ When did you start gardening and why?I began gardening over 15 years ago, when my mother passed away. Without her, all the plants started to die... It was utterly heartbreaking, and more losses kept piling up. I started watering them, and over time, only three species survived: Aloe maculata, Jasminum polyanthum, and Alocasia odora. I rediscovered a little joy in the process, which helped me heal. The seed was there, the desire to be a friend to plants. ๐ฟ Do you make a living from it or is it a hobby? It started as a hobby, but today it's my ikigai: cultivating the nectar of the most delicious plants. I dedicate my days to growing cannabis flowers and producing medicinal oils, within the legal framework of Argentina (which allows self-cultivation for medicinal purposes). It began as something among friends, but now we're about to take the next step and become an NGO, so we can raise more awareness about the uses of the plant. ๐ฟ What is your favourite type of gardening?Well, I have many. On one hand, I love Zen Buddhist-style gardens, Japanese gardens, which look so dramatic and perfect. But I don't actually have one like that. My style leans more towards chaos, permaculture design, and lots of experimentation. I had my terrace garden phase, with many pots of succulents splitting in the sun. Now I have a patio, lots of herbs, a small vegetable garden, and space for two trees (apple and peach). I had my Fukuoka moment, a revolution on a leaf, and I retained quite a bit of his method of observing (not doing) and flowing with nature. Using greenery to cover the ground, not disturbing the soil, and not using pesticides or fertilizers. I'll continue evolving in this direction, and the next phase would be making seed bombs for guerrilla gardening in my neighborhood. Currently, I'm motivated by the simplicity of Emilia Hazelip's growing method, Synergistic Gardening (which also incorporates elements of Mollison/Holmgreen's Permaculture and Fukuoka's Natural Farming). (I want to use the shovel as little as possible! ๐ haha) ๐ฟ What's your favourite plant and why?Cannabis ๐, without a doubt. I recently wrote a post about it: My favorite Plant from the Witch's Garden ๐ฑ : << CANNABIS >> The nectar of delight ๐ Well, that's all for now. With that, I say goodbye ๐Thank you for joining me this far, and thank you to everyone in the Hive Garden for allowing me to participate. I want to give you all a big hug. I hope you have a wonderful day. |

Absolutely loved reading this post! How poignant that your mother's passing led you to gardening - I think it must have been her last gift to you ๐ Your gardening style is much like my own. Did you know Holmgren is Australian, like me? And it's really cool you are making a business from your passion. Good luck!
๐ฅฐ Thank you for your generous contribution, and for these kind words, @riverflows, I loved them. You've brightened my afternoon.
Yes, the morning on the patio has the scent of flowers and memories that always accompany me; the nighttime calm, its coolness embraces us and unites us.
Oh wow! Yes, I'm a huge fan of Australian permaculture; what a beautiful country. I just saw your post, and how lovely the place you live and cultivate is. Close to the sea and with so much peaceful green space, it's a dream.
Thank you for so much love, many hugs and kisses! ๐
Greetings @faunobrujo! What a beautiful introduction your story of starting gardening to save your mom's plants and finding healing along the way really touched my heart ๐ It's amazing how you've turned that passion into your life's work and the plan to start an NGO is so inspiring. Also love that you're blending different natural growing methods and your dream of a perfume garden sounds absolutely magical! All the best with everything.
Aww, what a lovely message, @jocabanero4 I also got a little emotional remembering my beginnings. Today is a summer Sunday, and it's raining gently in my city. I always think of it as a blessing because the plants love it.
Thank you for your visit and your adorable message ๐ฅฐ. Just now the sky cleared and the sun came out. What a joy! Your message makes me happy. I'm sending you lots of light, flowers, and strength for this week with all my heart.
