Green Treasures from My Garden / @encuentro

Hello to all the lovely people in the #HiveGarden community and its #nature atmosphere! It’s a pleasure to stop by here again and share a tour of my productive garden—those corners where I pour my heart into planting every day and watch how nature responds generously when treated with patience and beneficial microorganisms.

It all starts early in the morning, stepping out into the yard in the calm of the day... checking on the seedlings—specifically the spearmint—growing in their bags.

There I am, settled in the shade, checking the green shoots that are emerging vigorously. Nurturing plants from the moment they are tiny seeds or stolons in their soil bags requires persistence and affection, but nothing compares to the satisfaction of seeing them grow healthy before transplanting them elsewhere.

Walking a bit further among the plants, I was pleasantly surprised to see how the cucumber plant is doing.

]

Look at that beautiful fruit—firm, with an even green color and its yellow flower still active right beside it. It brings such joy to see the vines gripping the nylon lines tightly and bearing such fresh fruit, perfect for adding to our delicious daily salads.

Continuing our tour, we come across the tapiramo (lima bean) plants.

]

These plants are wonderful because they bring incredible vitality to the vegetable garden. The foliage is lush and radiantly green, and those little white flowers—heralding the approaching harvest—have already begun to appear. A little further along the same vine, you can already spot the first tiny pods forming.

It is fascinating to watch the entire process: from the flower bud to the moment the pod begins to elongate—soon to yield the tasty beans that will grace our family meals.

Lifting our gaze to the taller plants, we find this gem of natural medicine: the moringa tree.

[

]

Look at that long, dark pod hanging from the high branches. It is impressive how generous this plant is—not only for the shade and leaves it provides but also for these seed-filled pods, ready to expand the crop or be used for their well-known health benefits. Beside that mature pod, the tree also treats us to a beautiful display with its clusters of white flowers.
]

Those flowering clusters crowd the upper branches, attracting a multitude of pollinators—bees, bumblebees, and large wasps—throughout the morning.

Amidst all the greenery, the delicate pink eggplant flower also stands out.

[

]

This little pale lilac flower with its bright yellow center is a testament to the beauty of agriculture. It brings joy to know that a purple eggplant will soon emerge from such a simple blossom, ready to be grilled or used in stews. And it doesn't spike blood sugar levels.

Of course, I couldn't leave out one of the garden's favorites: the passion fruit vine. Look how laden with fruit it is. It’s the one that occasionally brings me a bit of extra income.

[

]

There are several well-formed, heavy, bright green fruits hanging firmly from the vines. And for this entire miracle of fruit production to happen, nature gifts us unique moments like this one. [

]

Look at this busy black bumblebee hard at work pollinating right in the center of the passion fruit flower. It is a sight to behold, watching these visitors work in harmony with the crops.

Continuing our tour of this vibrant corner, we come across plants that—in our land—are treasures of folk wisdom and the knowledge passed down by our elders. Just look at this beautiful tua tua plant.

]

It is impossible not to recognize it by the characteristic purple hue of its leaves and the tender green fruit at its center. In our country, the tua tua is highly valued as a natural anti-inflammatory, a staple in home remedies used to soothe ailments and cleanse...

If we have our own garden, it’s almost like having a vegetable store right in our backyard for free. We can simply pick fresh vegetables whenever we need them.
