Transplanting green grass lilies🪴

Green Gardening Class Natural Instagram Post Square_20240624_121635_0000.png

I have told you in my previous posts that I had never done any work in a garden until I did community service in college (which is mandatory practice for graduation) and my classmates and I were assigned to clean and maintain a certain area of the faculty to which I belong, which is why in my post today I will share the whole process that was done to transplant the lilies from one place to another.

The first thing that was done was to remove the lilies from their original location with the help of a chicura (which in case you didn't know is a tool that is ideal mainly to open holes in the ground, solid surfaces and cut roots), it was very large and heavy so this process was performed between two or three people for some may sound exaggerated the help of three people for this but it was completely necessary and more if they are kids who do not know the subject.

After removing all the lilies that were approximately more than 30 because it is a very large space we set out to think about where it could be transplanted as we did not want to throw it away because it would be a waste, but the challenge now was to think about the conditions that had to possess the new place where the plants would be taken as for example a good soil that is easy to handle because it is a somewhat heavy work and a soft soil is the main thing should be taken into account.

On the other hand it is important to talk a little about these green grass lilies although they are also called elephant ear as we were informed by the caretaker of the garden also mentioned that it is a very strong plant ideal for both outdoors and indoors is known to be strong - resists and tolerate dry air as well as being an air purifying plant.

Continuing with the transplant process, after locating the site with the above mentioned conditions where the plants would be placed, which is close to their initial location, we began to open the holes using three tools: the chisel to start with the opening of holes, then we used the pick to give the appropriate depth to the hole because it is necessary to cover from the root of the plant and for this we urge at least 30 centimeters deep, depending of course on the size of the lily.

Now with the hole sufficiently open both in width and depth it is time to place the plant in the hole to transplant this with the help of a shovel to cover with enough soil the opening we made.as you can see in the picture to do this a pair of hands was not enough it took 3 people to transplant each lily, is a job that looks easy but it is not, but to speed everything was done simultaneously for a total of 9 people in hands to work.

Here I leave the final result is the product of executing the process that I have just described in previous lines again and again until obtaining these plants impeccable and above all alive.

That's all for today, thanks for joining me and reading, see you next time bye bye.
