This is a very late report about my previous shallot cultivation results. I am currently renting a new land plot so that I can rest the land that my father cultivates. He is now growing rice, and that is the way we can stop the disease from spreading and getting stronger if we cultivate the same crop over and over again. That is the way that we use here. Let's say we grow the secondary crop, like long bean, shallot, or chilly, at some point we go back to plant rice, so that the diseases or pests that are on the land will die as we flood the land.
Ok, going back to the land that I was renting, it seems that the land was not really suitable for growing shallots. It received too much water from the neighboring land, as it is a little bit lower. Too much water is never good for growing shallots, as it makes the bulb go bad or rotten.
Actually on the vegetative stage of the shallot was great, it grows so well, healthy and green, as you can see in the last photo in this post. But as soon as it went into the generative stage, this is when it starts to make the bulb big, the problem arose because of the excessive water.
The plant wilted, and those that survived split too much. So as a result, the bulb became small.
As you can see in the photo below, these are the results from my last shallot season. Not as great as I wanted, not to mention thinking how well it was during the vegetative stage.

Ehhh, so what are ur plans now? Shallots not good in there. Maybe another plants then that will surely work there?
At the moment, I still plant shallot of the second batch now. with a little upgrade on the land. and also lukcy it is dry season (too dry) now, so this kind of issue should be mitigated well, but I still need to wait and see about 30 more days to see the result.
after this I might plant corn there. ;)
terlalu lembab ya om kelihatannya !BBH !ALIVE !PIMP
ia om, terlalu rapat sepertinya,. dan pas 30 hari masa tanam, di hajar hujan terus menerus selama seminggu, jadinya kaya gitu dah.
It's amazing how too much or too little water can harm a crop, whether it consists of edible or ornamental plants.
that is true, having a few plant in the garden and too many plan in the field is really different, and also the amount of water that it recieve also play a big role as well. ver interesting isn't it?
Do you know what went wrong and how to fix it?
There are a few posibilities that I can think of, fetilizing schedule and also fertilizer mix, better land drainage, and also better space between each crop so that it will not be that humid.
