Spring report from the garden

Every year, in April, when spring begins, when the days get longer and it gets warmer during the day, there comes a moment when I join my mother for a few days at the cottage, where she "persistently" cultivates a garden.

I'm not saying it's not useful, we have organically grown vegetables and fruits at our disposal, but in order to grow several crops in a small garden, she has to seriously dedicate herself to gardening.
And with her, several times during the year and me 🙂

The garden is not big, there are several fruit trees, whose tops are now full of beautiful flowers.

There is a trellis of grapes, the stems of which have just begun to sprout leaves.

There is chokeberry with small fruits, berries that have started to grow.

Strawberries have special treatment.
To protect them from frost during the night, they are covered with a thin white fabric, the popular Agrila (agrotextile).

And they flourished, which means that the protection was effective.
Now we have to wait another 15 to 20 days, when the strawberry will produce fruits that we can enjoy with sweetness, because we know that no chemical liquid was sprayed on them except rainwater.

Unlike strawberries, which are still in the flowering phase, young onions have already grown enough to be harvested, but it is still better to wait a few more days for them to grow further.

Swiss chard, a plant with beautiful green shiny leaves, which goes well with mashed potatoes, is also ready for picking.

One part of the garden is still waiting for the seeds to turn into young tomato stems in the nursery, which will be planted on the prepared ground.

But there are not only fruits and vegetables in our garden. There are also a lot of flowers.

In addition to the flowers of beautiful colors, this green plant with soft, delicate plush leaves known as "bunny ears" is particularly interesting to me.

It may have tender leaves, but it is very hardy and loves the sun (a perennial plant that overwinters lightly in cold winters and hot summers).
In the sun, the silvery downy hairs of each leaf shine through, which I love to "caress".
In addition to these ground flowers, we have planted tulips.

Such beautiful colors adorn the approach to our house.
After "hanging out" with the mower for a little longer than half an hour, and mowing the grass in the entire yard, I took a break and enjoyed the beauty of these flowers.

Seeing me painting beautiful tulips, my mother wanted to give them to me for a vase in the apartment, but I was sorry to cut them and left them in their natural environment to beautify the passage to our house.

So much for this first, spring report. The next one will be near the beginning of summer when #summervibes are in the air, and I'm really interested in what colors the flowers, fruits and vegetables will be then.

The garden is progressing nicely, beautiful flowers. And nothing tastier than spring onions with a barbecue.
I see that you are also fighting the frost.
We are also storing strawberries, we just haven't bought agrotextiles, we will have to for next season.

🙂

My brother, who is a bigger producer of strawberries, always gives my mother a piece to cover the little strawberries she plants.

Your garden is looking very good. Hope my strawberries end up doing as well as yours.

Klasika. Došao na odmor i da obidje familiju, a mora da radi 😄
Ima sreće što su ovih dana praznici, pa niko ne lije ploču na kući, inače bi ga i tu zvali za pomoć 🙂
