From a Simple Papaya Hunt to Harvesting Bananas: Enjoying the Fruits of Our Garden Today

Green Yellow Red Mountain Hiking Travel Collage Facebook Post.png

Today turned out to be a fun and unexpected harvest day in our backyard.🌿

My husband originally went to our small garden beside the rice field to look for a ripe papaya. We have several papaya trees there, and they are very productive. Since we planted different varieties, there is almost always a papaya ready to harvest. His plan was simple to pick a ripe papaya and bring it home for us to enjoy.

But as he was walking around the garden, he noticed that some of our banana plants were already ready for harvest. What started as a papaya hunt quickly turned into a banana harvesting adventure!

These banana plants were planted about 15 months ago on a vacant area beside our rice field. Instead of leaving the space empty, my husband decided to plant bananas there. At first, they were just small plants, and now they are giving us fruits. Seeing them grow and produce bananas reminds me that when you plant something and take care of it, you will eventually enjoy the harvest.

Today, we harvested two bunches of bananas. I felt excited because this is not our first harvest from these plants. In fact, we have already harvested bananas several times. It feels rewarding every time we bring home fresh fruits that came from our own backyard.
Aside from the bananas, my husband also harvested three ripe papayas. He told me there are still many more papayas on the trees, but he only picked the ripe ones for today. The remaining fruits will be harvested tomorrow. He plans to give some of them to his parents and sisters so they can also enjoy fresh fruits from our garden. I think it is a wonderful way of sharing our blessings with family.

Some of the bananas will be cooked for our family, while the rest will be left to ripen. Once they are ready, I plan to sell some to my friends, especially fellow parents. My daughter will be starting daycare this school year, and I will be accompanying her. I thought it would be nice to bring affordable bananas for snacks and sell them at a friendly price. Maybe I can even gain a few loyal customers!

The best part of harvesting from our garden is knowing that we have fresh food without spending money at the market. Today's harvest reminded me that patience, hard work, and proper care always bring rewards.

Thank you for reading my story! This is my owned picture and edited in Canva. Happy Sunday!

Nice! Fresh fruits everywhere.
We had papayas before, but during the last typhoon, all of our papaya plants fell. Now, we are waiting for the small ones to grow a bit taller so we can have papayas again.

Enjoy your harvest 🥰
