A Day in the Life of My Husband: A Farmer and with a Green Thumb

Hello my fellow gardeners and hivers!
Living in the province and being surrounded by nature has made me appreciate the beauty of gardening and farming even more. Every day, I witness the hard work of my husband, a man who has a green thumb and a deep love for the land. For him, growing plants and crops is not just work it is a passion that has been part of his life since childhood.

My husband always believes that land should never stay empty for too long. After every harvest, he immediately starts planting again. He says there is no time to waste because in farming and gardening, timing is very important. If one crop does not grow well, there is still a chance to recover in the next planting season. And if the harvest is good, he still keeps going because plants need constant care and life must continue. He is so hardworking and consistent.

Since he was young, he already followed his father to the farm. He learned early how to plant, prepare the soil, and care for crops. While others were playing, he was already learning about seeds, seasons, and hard work. That is why until now, growing food and working with the land comes naturally to him.

Our rice field is just in front of our farmhouse, so every morning around 4:00 AM, he is already awake. He starts the tractor and prepares the soil for rice planting while the air is still cool and fresh. Sometimes he works alone if he knows he can manage it. While he is outside, I prepare his breakfast, water, and the things he needs for the day.

After preparing the field, planting begins. Then once the seedlings are growing, the next tasks follow. He sprays the crops himself and checks if the plants are healthy. He also applies fertilizer after a few weeks to help them grow stronger. He always wants to make sure every plant receives proper care.

Aside from rice farming, I also learned from him that gardening and farming need patience. Seeds do not grow overnight. Plants need water, sunlight, good soil, and attention. Some days are successful, and some days are challenging because of weather or pests. But still, he never gives up.

I am truly proud of my husband because even though he finished college, he still chose the simple and honest life of farming. He followed what he loves most working with nature and growing food for our family. Other people look down him because for them a farm is not a profession.

Through my experience, I learned that people with a green thumb do not only grow plants they also grow discipline, patience, and hope every single day.

Thank you for reading my gardening and farming story. This is my owned picture and edited in Canva. Have a nice day!

Being a farmer and taking care of the plants, soil, and the garden is a tough job... And it's exactly as you said, it requires a lot of discipline, patience, dedication, and consistency throughout the whole year! Despite all that, I suppose it's much easier for your husband as he truly loves what he is doing... That's probably the most important in life! To do something that we love!

Despite everything, he chose what he truly wanted because he loves farming. It's like everything he plants grows and comes to life. That becomes possible because of his care and of course, consistency.

What is that blinding white on the tarp?

Was your husband a bit tired in that picture or does he always look so serious? :)

He is always tired, but he still pushes himself to work on the farm even under the hot sun. He is mixing fertilizer to prepare it for the plants.

A kind of work that they can't replace how hard work that spend that time it may take a while to harvest that and just read that even if your husband graduated a college but he choose what he wants too and also just stay for his family.

We are blessed that he pursued farming. Even though he gets tired every day, he is still able to save and invest little by little because of his hard work and effort. I salute and proud to all farmers all over the world.

Kudos to all farmers in the Philippines . Without farmers , we have nothing to eat on the table . We need rice and vegetables now and then . Bless all farmers and give them good health to survive their daily routine in the farm .
