In my country we are in the rainy season, the garden greens up and visitors come to enjoy the place.

I love to plant basil is one of my favorite plants, for its medicinal and culinary properties that allow to use these leaves in different preparations.

A few days ago I began to notice when I watered my plant that its leaves had marks, part of its leaf was missing, I thought that some rodent could be eating my basil.

I noticed, in the following days that some of its leaves were a little yellow and the truth is that my plant looked decayed, so I started the investigation to help my plant and to know by whom it was being attacked.

I always water my plant early in the morning and in the evening, with a small amount of water, for each watering, its leaves are always radiant, but now they were bitten at the edges and in other areas it had small holes.

Today when I tried to water my basil I found an unwanted visitor, who was on my plant eating its leaves.

The investigation was over, as I discovered who it was that was eating my plant, a grasshopper who was very happily feasting on basil.

This grasshopper 🦗 has become a threat and problem for my plant, because if I neglect it could eat it all, I know that this is one of the worst pests in nature.

I know of this species since I was a child, they were very frequent in my mom's garden, this is a stem grasshopper, I know this by its color and appearance, if we see it from afar it could pass for a dry branch.

It was impressive to see it eating my basil plant, however I don't want to harm the grasshopper, 🦗 it is looking for food to survive.

So I am going to prepare a liquid which consists of water and crushed garlic, to spray the plant, maybe this will keep the grasshopper away, because I also know that these are very selective when choosing their food.

For me it is necessary to respect nature, but I must also protect my plant from this eater, otherwise my plant could die.

So I am going to use home remedies to keep this grasshopper away 🦗 and have it seek to eat grass from somewhere else.

I didn't see the grasshopper the first time, it really looks like a branch and rightly has that name haha

I hope it will be solved and I love that you respected nature so much, someone else in your place would have killed the grasshopper.

Yes, they are a rare species and I'm sorry it's hungry but I can't let it feed on my plant 🌱.

I was watching a video about this plant, it lasts only one year, so before its cycle ends collect its seeds and put some stems to germinate.

I was given two alternatives: crushed garlic with water and spicy 🌶️ with water, now I'm trying the first mixture to see how it works 🌱 the ideal is to protect both species.
