One of my hobbies is the arrangement of my small garden, I plan with time to cut the withered leaves, place the portion of compost and water. I visit my garden almost every day so I can keep track of the growth of my plants. I am thrilled when I see my plants give me their flowers.
Today I am going to tell you about a plant that in Venezuela is known as red ginger, precisely because of the color of its flowers. They are very appreciated in decoration and in the florist's shop to make beautiful arrangements because of their long life after cut. Its large, intense green leaves are also used to decorate environments.
This plant does not require special care, it only needs space to grow and reproduce, in fact it does it easily. It needs moderate watering, tolerates semi-direct sunlight, there is no need for pruning as its leaves and flowers dry easily, our job is to collect to keep the garden clean.
It can be grown in large pots or directly in the ground, the latter of which I consider to be the best scenario for the healthiest development of red ginger or alpinia purpurata.
It is an ornamental plant that can be reproduced by taking off shoots or offshoots that are generated around the mother plant or by means of rhizomes or creeping stems that grow under the soil.
The red ginger is more of tropical climates, it is very sensitive to cold. In the headwaters of rivers it can reach up to three meters in height.
In Venezuela it is common in parks and gardens because of the striking color of the flowers and the elongated shape of its leaves add to the beauty of the space. The red ginger in my garden is admired by many people.
