The mix of end of year projects, grant writing, and other unexpected commitments has meant that gardening and posting have fallen a bit by the wayside. We did have plans to do more in the garden, but the grant and ensemble stuff have occupied more time than expected... meaning that I've taken the incredibly rare step of cancelling all my existing lessons until the end of the year!
Anyway, on the garden side of things... the combination of heat and storms has meant that potential windows of actually working in the garden is also limited.

... but things continue apace without our intervention... both good and bad. The kiwi vines are growing strong, and are starting to show little buds and flowers. I doubt that we will get much in the way of fruits this season... but the main goal for these plants are to provide summer shade on our patio area. Fruits are secondary!

Meanwhile, at the back... the blueberries that were planted not so long ago have taken hold, and are showing some hints of berries that will be nice to harvest when they are ready... assuming that we can get to them before the birds!

... and on the bad side of things... the grass that we DON'T want is seeding rapidly... sigh I guess this will be a problem as we start clearing it out and trying to lay in the new stuff... but that is how it is, we will clear the topsoil and lay down a new layer... and then try and choke the old stuff with the new stuff!

I have no idea how many times I righted this little bush and restaked it... but I'm giving up on it... I will uproot it and mulch it. It is a bit of a holdover from when the garden was completely overgrown, and likely it grew too tall too fast compared to the root system... in order to get even the slightly slither of light and space. And it was probably sheltered and supported by some of the other stuff that we took out. But now, in its own space supporting itself... well, it just isn't happening!

.... ahhh, the new lawn! Each of the three new sections have taken hold and are doing well! I'm curious as to how they will cope with the hot summer!

And the very first section has had it's first mowing as well!

Its nice to see your garden still thriving on its own. The kiwi vines sound amazing, whether they fruit or not, that natural shade will be such a blessing in summer.
You're weeks seemed productive it's visible that there were plants already growing and some were already showing its fruits..soon you will celebrate your first harvest in these plants
