V Rising | The Final Base Move

my castle.jpg

I was moving towards the endgame, and with that, I wanted to relocate my base one last time. There was also an insane amount of grinding I needed to do. I had been putting off both of these tasks, but today was the day to get some work done on a new base.

I ended up looking at a few locations for my new base. One spot I was considering, rather healthy, was next to where you can farm silver ore. The region it’s in only has one Waygate, and it’s not in an ideal location. Setting up a castle there would give me a great location to reach both the mine and one of the largest cities in the town, where I needed to do a lot of farming. There was just one major downside.

The land itself was split into two sections. If I were on a PvP realm, I could understand wanting to have that location. Having a second ramp that you could defend, where you kept everything of value. Sounds quite alluring. I, however, have no such concerns.

So, I ended up picking out one of the larger lots of land in the game. There might be another, even bigger one. It’s, however, not anywhere near anything that I'd need to be farming a lot at the stage of the game I'm in.

There was also another huge advantage of this location over the other one. It’s in a higher-level region. So a lot of stuff I'd be needing anyway is just right outside my door. I could always just set up a second castle in the other location anyway. So, having a better layout of usable space and perhaps a bit more room than many locations. Ended up coming out the winner in where I was going to live next.

So I set to work clearing out all the trees, rocks, and a lot of creatures. This spot was quite hostile. Even some of the stuff I had to clear where a few levels above me. So I had to be extra careful.

How the base looked on the outside was something I gave zero consideration to. It’s a bit flat and ugly. I’d rather just have something usable. I did not even waste time putting in many windows or any of that nonsense. After all, I was a vampire, so I don’t need to see the daylight.

This place was also going to be even bigger than the last. So yet again, I'd have issues with not having enough of all the flooring types. I was, however, moving into end endgame and now knew just about every crafting machine I'd be needing.

As I started the relocation. I started to design the new rooms. Relocate my crafting machines. Along with deleting things and trying again. I had no plans on the server I was on to make another endgame base. So this thing had to fit everything and function for all my needs.

moving items over.jpg

Some areas I'd just treat as temporary storage. I needed to move all the machines over. Any extra building blocks and stuff like that would just get put in a travel chest. I could always access those things later and put them into proper storage as needed.

That same room would end up being a bit of a catch-all for random things that did not quite need their own space. Along with certain devices requiring a certain kind of flooring. I feel it turned out well.

You can also tell. I tried to use a massive amount of the new area my castle was now in. I even made some rooms a lot bigger than they needed to be. As the last thing I wanted to do was be forced to knock down a bunch of walls and try to expand any room. That would require shifting other rooms and machines over. It's yet another mess and a nightmare.

the treasure room.jpg

There was also another huge thing I wanted to address. I liked having my storage treasure room in the middle and easy access to all the other rooms. I wanted it to be big enough to fit the Waygate and still have lots of room to fit my hording needs. While the storage room did not end up being the biggest in the castle. I feel it more than fits my needs. I could have put a little more thought into the storage placements, being more in line with the rooms they are next to at the time. Thankfully, moving around containers is easy. You even get to keep all the items in them.

Unlike some of the other castles I built, where I ended up needing to build on a second floor to have enough space. That was not going to be required in this castle. For fun, I considered the idea. I more than left enough space in a few rooms to fit stairs, and the central storage could have teleport pads as well.

Much later on, I did add on a second floor. That floor would serve as a place to hold some rather strange devices you can build in V Rising that allow items to transfer in your base between storage containers and things like looms, smelters, grinders, and so forth.

the outdoor area.jpg

I even had a little space left over to put in an outdoor garden area. Those pads off in the distance could hold a few different seeds. I kind of just put in whatever seeds I had.

There was even enough room to put in the horse stables. Yet another thing I never used, as I hate how horses move around in the game. I’d also unlock much better transportation methods soon enough. Spending the time to level up a horse at this point would have been quite the waste of resources.

I’ll admit that in some rooms, I get way overboard with how much room they ended up having. Some of them just had a few edge pieces from being on the outside, along the edge of the cliff the castle is on. So they had places I could just jam machines into that would not work, being given to other sections of the castle.

dungeon and servants rooms.jpg

Despite how massive I've made some rooms. I also had other arenas I knew did not need a lot of space. Such as my dungeon and servants' areas. I could always add in more cells or servants' coffins if needed, with the space I gave these things. I, however, ended up not caring to do that later on. So, the smaller rooms ended up just fine.

There are also just some kinds of rooms that only have a couple of machining machines to put into them. This was perhaps the only room I felt might not be big enough. It’s, however, next to the garden, so I could kind of expand it or take away a tile from the workshop next to it.

Final Thoughts

I leave you with a castle tour I recorded a while back. It’s in its final stage, with any changes I'd end up making along the way. I ended up removing the second floor I'd put in a little after I built the castle. I just never used it and did not care to have stairs in this castle.
