Things are heating up in the city and viewing parties are happening all over with events being held outdoors and indoors. One popular spot in the city is Granville Island, which is situated on the southern end of the Granville St. Bridge.

I decided to swing by there and soak up the atmosphere. On my way across False Creek, I spotted the Aquabus sporting a large soccer ball on top.

Inside the fenced off viewing zone, organizers placed many tables and chairs so that people can also enjoy the food and drink available. They also had table football throughout the grounds, as you can see in the following photo.

Not wanting to let all this work go to waste, I decided to support the local food trucks and avail myself of these tasty ribs with macaroni and cheese.

The Granville st. bridge hovered over the viewing grounds like a protective sentinel.

Prior to the game, dancers put on a show with their lively brand of samba fusion.

The crowd cheered and booed, drank and booed, cheered and ate and clapped and drank and cheered and booed, then booed again and drunkenkly cheered, and so on.

Those drums are still banging in my head. The atmosphere was superb, and booing aside, everyone seemed to be having a good time. Thank you for joining the party.
