Ocean Living
It used to be said that the American dream included owning a house with a white picket fence. By osmosis, it has been the Canadian dream too. It’s a wonderful idea to own a piece of land on which to design a home and arrange living affairs as one sees fit. It therefore intrigues me whenever I come across unique neighbourhoods that follow a different trend. No land, no white picket fence, no problem.
I guess, there’s no need for a fence around a floating ocean home. Poseidon himself is the security guard, except on land where he has no dominion, and a security fence is likely needed.
The trail that passes through this neighbourhood is part of a larger trans-Canada network that crosses urban and wilderness areas.
I like the idea of a floating home in principle. You get a view of the ocean and the city. I can only imagine what it looks like at night when the whole of downtown Vancouver lights up, and the north shore mountains look resplendent covered in snow.
Are the homes in constant rocking motion? What about stormy weather? Is swimming allowed? So many questions.
Being close to a large city, this is a controlled environment, but it is still extreme in its own way. So, it makes me wonder, who came up with this far out idea?
Would you live in one of these places? Or do you prefer something a little more stable under your feet?

Beautiful on a sunny day ... but I, being from earthquake country, could not deal with the storm motion on those things...
I'm really intrigued by the motion aspect of living there. I was standing on a floating platform around the area, and I could feel the ocean movement even though it was a calm day. I can't imagine what it must be like during stormy days like the numerous ones we had this past winter. I'm getting nauseous just thinking about it. 😆
It would be like living in a never-ending earthquake, and that's why I know I couldn't live with it!

I like the design of the homes. It has a nautical theme feel to it. It's such a unique neighbourhood.
