Sun Seekers

(edited)

Their energy doesn’t come from within.

Lizards bask in the sun, storing heat that replaces an inner source of warmth. As their bodies warm up, they become quicker, sharper, more alive — ready to dart away in an instant. So their stillness is only an illusion.

Whether on stone, wood, or dusty ground, the place itself matters less than finding the right balance between heat and shade. And in this everyday routine, there is something remarkably precise — a life tuned to the sun.

If there’s one place where I found myself coming across lizards most often, it was Cyprus. Under the summer sun, all it took was a more attentive glance, and these small sun lovers would reveal themselves. In these images, despite their apparent similarity, are three entirely different lizards, captured at different times and in different places.

Thank you for stopping by.

Paphos, Cyprus.
