For the Love of the Game
Canada ranks 27th (as of Oct 7, 2026) in men's soccer and 9th in women's soccer. Not bad for a nation that is not known for its soccer prowess. In recent years, the country has risen not only in standings but also development with its very own league that is now developing local talent. Canada also has three teams in Major League Soccer, including one from the city of Vancouver, where I took this photograph.

I don’t know why, but my eyes were drawn to the clock… it looked as if it had been painted!
The clock was built in 1912 and lights up in neon light at night. By comparison that Microsoft building opened in 2016. So the two are separated by more than century and it shows in their architecture. The contrast is neat and a little surreal.
It really is fascinating!
