" When Water Learns to Fly"

A few days ago, while looking for information on hidden corners of Switzerland, I stumbled upon a valley called Lauterbrunnen. At first, I didn't pay it much mind. Just another Swiss village with mountains and snow, I thought. But something made me stop.

72 waterfalls.

That was what caught my attention. 72 cascades tumbling from the mountains down into the valley. Some so high that the water turns to mist before it even hits the ground. Others that appear only when the snow melts. And one you can actually visit from the inside, passing through the mountain like a mole.

I started reading more. And the more I read, the harder it was to believe such a place could exist without everyone talking about it.

The valley looks like something out of a dream. Narrow, hemmed in by rock walls that almost touch, filled with the constant murmur of falling water. They say the sound is so all-encompassing that, at first, you can't tell where it’s coming from. It’s as if the entire valley were whispering.

And then there are the stories. The legends. The bell lost beneath a glacier. The echo that sounds like a drum. The people who swear they’ve seen shadows moving through the mist.

I don’t know if they’re true. But it doesn’t really matter. Because the beauty of legends isn’t whether they’re factual, but simply that someone told them.

I spent a long time looking at photos of the valley. Imagining what it would be like to be there—feeling the mist on my face and hearing the sound of the water. No rushing. No mobile phone. Just the sound of the waterfalls and the wind.

And suddenly, I realized something. I had gone ten minutes without looking at my phone. Without thinking about anything I had to do. Just imagining a valley I’ve never set foot in.

And that, I think, is what makes places like this so special. Not just because they exist, but because they let us travel even while we’re sitting in a chair.

For me, Lauterbrunnen is no longer just a dot on a map. It is a reminder that the world is full of corners worth imagining—and that sometimes, the best way to travel is in your mind.

Thanks for reading this far. If these thoughts have made you think of a place you’ve always wanted to visit, I hope you make it there someday—even if only in your imagination.

Until the next adventure.

Thank you for your support!! Many times we are in a place and we don't enjoy it in our minds, we don't imagine all that nature has to offer us and we see it as just another landscape when it has so much to offer us.
