Not from Today - 16th of December

This will be an irregular series of posts - in these posts I'm going to look back into my archive to see what photos I took this day in previous years

This 'Not from Today' but it is from the 16th of December

Do you start at the beginning of the end - let go with the oldest

2006 - I loved this photo back in the day, it has the saturated tones and the lack of clarity that was everywhere in the early 2000's. This by the way is gasworks park in Port Melbourne, I had just moved into a terrace house down the road from there, turning my back on the suburbs, I never looked back

2017 - Big gap in photos here, not sure why, maybe just the busy-ness of the pre Christmas days. I'm not sure I understand exactely where this photo is taken, other than to say it's in Melbourne (I don't travel in December) and it looks like the back of the library on the right, what is so interesting about this lonely car-park. Not sure but maybe it meant more 8 years ago

2018 - also in Melbourne, little Bourke street I think, and yeah I was trying to be artistic with the costumes and the girls walking past, did it work? sort of - I like how the girls are walking in perfect sync with each other, maybe there is something poetic about that, maybe there isn't.

2019 - This shot, this is one of my favourite shots - it's making me think if it's sunny today I might go replicate this - make it a little cleaner. This was a rushed shot, a evening walk but not much more than that, and then I spotted the chairs creating shadows looking all mid century art poster. The restaurant is still there, literally 50 metres from my house, they still have those chairs, this is all very possible

And that my friends was my life on the 16th of December but not from today

I might do some similar posts as I’m not able to get much photography done at this time of year. Mainly because it’s busy and I prefer to head out in between Christmas and new year with the camera and thereafter.

Thanks for sharing some different viewpoints on Melbourne. I’ve never been but have seen plenty of photos of the city over time, to get a bit of an idea at least.
