Grizino. Nikolskoye. Gorshkovo. Ustye

This dead‑end side of the Ust‑Kubinsky District in the Vologda Region, like an unresolved gestalt, beckons with its unexplored nature. I decided to treat myself to a weekend trip and visit all those places I’ve always wanted to go to.

In Grizino, there stands an amazing wooden chapel. It’s simply a work of art!

It’s a pity that the daylight spoiled the scene, and the number of angles is limited due to the impenetrable thickets of some kind of long grass…it’s like getting tangled in a spiderweb.

I’ve already met Nikolsky, though only at night.

Here, just like last time, it’s cozy, quiet, and pleasant to take a walk.

I ate my fill of sour and astringent wild apples and took photos of new species for myself.

Here, beauty is dying – my favorite type of cone‑shaped bell towers...

Another wooden chapel is located on the way to Bogorodskoye.

But that time I didn’t make it to it. These shots were taken on another day, during a work trip. What a coincidence! Who would have thought that I would end up in these parts twice in such a short time and learn everything I needed to know!

I realized that I won’t be going to Berezhnoye anytime soon just for the dugouts. Three locations were out, and the remaining two aren’t that great.

And on the way back, I stopped by Ustye to feel the water in the Kuben, and take a couple of shots of that very Chirkovo, which turned out to be the most memorable place this year.

Yes, it was that trip that took place in the spring, where I assumed magic at the points on the map, where the coordinates add up to nine ...

Back then, I thought nothing had worked, and I removed all the other suspected points from the map. And these places turned out to be the most notable ones of 2026 (as of today).

You did a great job even though you didn't have any other angles. It looks like a movie.
