There's a basic cycle that I have to keep up with as a farmer.

The moment I miss this period, my work becomes stressful. Timing and technique are what rice cultivation entails, and this phase is real. It is like dealing with a window that only opens occasionally.

Now, the moment it is time for a specific window, you give it all you've got to ensure the work keeps on moving.

In the image provided for this blog post, you can see us applying herbicide to our farm, and it is not just any herbicide but a powerful non-selective herbicide because of the size, height, and strength of the weeds we are dealing with.

This is an essential step to take before actual cultivation and transplanting will take place.

Why am I making so much emphasis on this?

The goal is to do things the right time and the right way, not to fall victim to a situation we could have avoided.

Now there are so many situations that could come as a result of being slow to react to what should have been done a long time ago

Situations like prolonged unexpected dry spells that could occur at a crucial period, like we have with the August break period in my place, a period where there is a high guarantee each year that rainfall will take a break.

Now, the failure to plant before then means you have to plant after that window, which means that it might become highly possible that you might not meet up with things that year.

So while the window is still open, we are doing everything we can to ensure we meet up, part of which is to start spraying our farms while our rice seedlings are growing in the nursery.
