Family Trip: Religious Tourism in Magelang

(edited)

One of the things I was finally able to do when I returned to my hometown was a family trip. Although this time it wasn't my immediate family, my sister, my mother and I were the immediate family, plus one more person, my aunt from my mother's side. The four of us took part in a religious trip held in the village where my mother grew up.

My mother's relationship with her neighbours from the past is still close, even though after she got married at the age of 16, she was immediately taken to live with my father's family in the house we now live in.

Back to the family trip, the four of us gathered at the designated place that morning and then found our assigned seats on the bus. My sister and I sat together, and my mother sat with her sister. Our seats were only one row apart, so we were still connected. Like a typical picnic, my mother and aunt brought lots of food and snacks.

We really enjoyed the trip. And then we arrived at our destination. There were at least three places we visited. Like Sapuro in Pekalongan, and two more in the Magelang area.
When we were in Sapuro, my older sister bargained for some batik clothes. Understandably, we were in our own city, which is famous for its batik. So why not? She was focused on negotiating the price until she got a good deal.

After Sapuro, our bus drove on until we reached Sunan Geseng in Magelang at night. To get to the tomb, we had to climb some fairly steep steps. For me, this was nothing out of the ordinary. LOL.

Once we reached the top, I took some photos with my family. I also took some group photos. After finishing the prayer procession, my journey continued to the next destination at Gunung Pring. I had been to this location several years ago. And when I returned here, it turned out that a lot had changed. The roofs along the long staircase, which used to be uncovered, are now safer because they have roofs. So now we can be protected from the rain and the hot sun.

The exciting thing about the Gunung Pring tomb is that there are many people selling a variety of things, from speciality foods and modern foods to local handicrafts. So, besides praying, a trip to Gunung Pring can also be an opportunity to window shop and buy things. Ha ha ha… isn’t that a hobby for women? Including me? Lol

After the event at Gunung Pring, our bus then drove to Malioboro briefly before finally returning to our hometown. This was so much fun. I enjoyed this trip. Thank you for reading my post. See you in the next one.

Hi, I am the child of the universe, I like to read books with various genres. I was born in the city of batik but can't draw batik yet. I want to be a novelist, but my works are only short poems that are included in anthology books.
