My short holidays in Karachi finished very suddenly because the shop owner from Lahore called me. He said that work is starting again and they need me back at the clothing store. I felt sad but I immediately booked my bus ticket, did my packing, and got ready for the long journey back. It is always so hard to leave your home. My parents were very sad when I was leaving. Tears came into my parents eyes, and I also started crying. Before I left the house, my mother packed some food for my way. She gave me real Karachi beef kebabs and some famous Karachi biryani.
I travelled during the daytime this time. When I sat on my bus seat, I saw an old uncle sitting next to me. After some hours on the road, I opened the food bag from my mother and started eating. I looked at the old uncle and felt that he was very hungry. It looked like he did not have enough money to buy food from the bus stops. I directly asked him to share the food with me. First he felt shy and said no.
But I forced him again with love to eat with me. He finally agreed and ate until his stomach was full. He was looking so happy and he gave me so many good prayers and blessings from his heart. I felt so much peace inside. After eating, I put my mobile phone on charging because this bus had a small charging system near the seats. Then I fell asleep. After a very long 20 hours journey, the bus finally reached the Lahore station.
When we were getting off the bus, that old uncle held my hand and said thank you again. Then he took off his wrist watch and put it on my hand. It was looking like a very costly gold watch. I was shocked and said, Uncle, what are you doing? I cannot take this from you. But he said, Dear son, please keep this small gift from me, if you say no I will be very angry with you.I did not want to break his heart, so I let him put the watch on my hand. But after one minute, I took it off and gave it back to him very nicely. I told him, You called me your son, and this big word is the best gift for me.
I am your son from today, but I cannot take this expensive watch. It is not right for me to take such a costly thing. Please keep it, and if you ever need any help, you can call me on this number. I wrote my phone number and gave it to him. He smiled, nodded his head, gave me a tight hug, and then we went to our ways. When I came out from the bus terminal, heavy rain started in Lahore. In Pakistan, we use online mobile apps to book cars or motorbikes. Cars are very costly for a working man like me, so I booked an online bike rider.
I quickly bought a small umbrella from a shop, and then the rider and I started going in the heavy monsoon rain.Sitting behind a male rider on a bike under one small umbrella in that heavy rain was looking so funny. It felt like I am the rider's wife and we are going on a romantic long drive in the rain. I was laughing so much inside my mind on this thought. After a very wet 50 minutes, I reached my small rented quarter. The weather outside was very bad and dangerous, so I told the rider to come inside my room and wait for the rain to stop. He was completely wet, so I gave him my own clean clothes to change.
We sat together and talked for some time. Then I ordered hot tea and some samosas from a small hotel downstairs. Eating hot samosas with tea in that cold rainy weather was so good. When the rain stopped, I said goodbye to the rider. After he left, I washed my wet clothes, cleaned the room, and went to sleep at 2:00 AM because my body was fully tired from the long journey.Next morning, I woke up at 9:00 AM. My whole body was paining because of tiredness.
But I remembered my big dreams and goals, so I got up, took a bath, and did my breakfast from a local street hotel. While eating that hotel food, I missed the hot parathas made by my mother’s hands so much. After breakfast, I reached my clothing shop and met all my old friends and coworkers. Meeting everyone after some days made me feel very happy. I took a nice picture inside the shop and I am sharing this picture here with all my friends on Ecency. This is the real story of my life.

Sad goodbyes, helping a kind stranger, funny moments in the rain, and working hard every day to make a good future. I want to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Did you ever meet a kind stranger like that old uncle? Or did you ever take a funny bike ride in heavy rain? Please tell me your stories!
