On Friday morning, I got up feeling exited to go to all the places I used to go to. My Mom and I took the bus to Downtown Vancouver with plans to look at our old city and look at Christmas decorations. We didn’t have specific plans, and we were playing it by ear. But first, my Mom needed coffee. She also got me a steamed milk with sugar free vanilla syrup. Starbucks Christmas cups in our hands, we set out to explore the city.
When we lived in Vancouver, we always liked to look at Christmas decorations in office lobbies. The Telus building is my favourite one because it also has koi fish and often live piano music; so we went there first. Then we went to Hotel Vancouver. My Mom talked to one of the staff about having dinner there. She said we would go back on the weekend for their buffet. It would be a big Christmas treat for us. However we never made it back, but we did have sushi, Korean, and oysters. We also ate at Urban Fare a couple times, which is something we liked to do when we lived in Vancouver.

After the Hotel Vancouver, we walked down to the West End to visit our old neighbours. With all that walking, we were starving: and so we had our first dinner at Urban Fare. We ate roast beef and chicken. It was delicious. With full stomachs, we continued exploring around Vancouver. We popped into Indigo and ran into an old friend. That was great. We hadn’t seen him for a long time.
Before we left Downtown, we looked at the flowers of the Fleurs De Villes Festival. The festival puts flowers on manikins and displays them around downtown. Its like a scavenger hunt to locate them all. Finally before leaving downtown, we looked at gingerbread houses in the Hyatt Hotel on Burrard. Our first full day was wonderful.
