Lustiger Ortsname - Funny village name

Today I drove by the funny village "Hühnergeschrei" that can be translated by "chicken crowing". Funny that they named a whole village after it. This small village is located in upper Austria in the "Mühlviertel" province.

There are several names of villages in Austria with funny names and Hühnergeschrei is one of them. There was also the village name "Fucking" in Upper Austria that was renamed to "Fugging" because the town sign was stolen so often. I always wonder how these names of villages or towns are chosen.
