Armed Attack in Namibia

I didn’t expect this.

What was supposed to be time in one of my favorite countries turned into something completely different. I was the victim of an armed robbery — and it escalated into a physical fight.

The Robbery

Two men attacked me while armed. During the struggle, I defended myself and managed to fight back. In that moment, I knew I had seriously hurt one of them.

They stole my main phone — the one that held everything:

• My photos and memories
• A 1TB microSD card
• My digital wallets and apps

Losing it wasn’t just about the device — it was my digital life.

Police Update

Yesterday, the police arrested two suspects.

They told me that the phone had already been sold. They also confirmed something I didn’t fully realize during the attack: I hadn’t just injured one attacker — I had injured both.

One of the wounded suspects is still on the run. According to the police, he was the one who sold my phone.

Ongoing Threats

It didn’t end there.

Yesterday, I was followed by friends of the suspects. They threatened to shoot me and even made gestures with their hands to imitate pulling a trigger.

That moment changed everything. This is no longer just about a robbery — it’s about ongoing safety.

My View Now

I’ve traveled to more than 40 countries, and Namibia has always been one of my favorites.

But after this experience, I can’t recommend it the same way anymore.

The level of safety I once felt here is gone — at least for me.

What’s Next

Right now, I’m dealing with:

• Replacing my phone and essential gear
• Securing my digital accounts
• Processing what happened

This situation isn’t over yet — especially with one suspect still on the run.
