Funnily enough I was talking to someone about pomegranates just the other day, they were saying how their neighbour has a pomegranate tree which they haven't harvested and overnight they kept hearing these loud banging noises and eventually realised it was pomegranates falling and hitting the fence repeatedly as the wind was quite strong that night. It was so loud they eventually went out to try to pick as many as they could reach but most of the pomegranates were on the neighbour's side of the fence where they couldn't reach so they had to put up with pomegranate rain all night.
The tree they were talking about is probably a lot older than the one in your photo though :)
Every time I see photos like this all I can think is how patient people with container gardens must be with all the watering and replenishing the soil.
